Visit the museum on a public holiday
Porzellanikon - State Museum for Porcelain, Selb is offering a public tour of porcelain production entitled "Porcelain factory on a public holiday" on All Saints' Day, 1 November 2023. Interested visitors can experience porcelain production up close from 14:00. Together with the museum team, they will discover the historic factory building and the exhibition on porcelain production at Europe's largest museum for porcelain. The live demonstrations on the steam engine, drum mills and in the whiteware production area are particularly exciting for visitors of all ages.The Porzellanikon in Hohenberg a.d. Eger is also open on this day. There will be plenty of new things for visitors to discover: the HGM collection, which was bequeathed to the museum by a Hamburg collector couple, has recently been remodelled. The exhibition mainly presents products from the Meissen manufactory such as services, vases and figurines from 1950 to the present day. A small Christmas exhibition gets museum visitors in the mood for the upcoming festive season and shows marvellous Christmas decorations from the companies Goebel, Villeroy & Boch, Hutschenreuther and others from the last 30 years. In the study collection, the exhibits on display will shine thanks to a new colour concept. The displays in the permanent exhibition from the 18th to 20th centuries also invite visitors to marvel and take a break.
Opening hours at both locations from 10:00 to 17:00, the price is the museum entrance fee.
