Rhino, Polar Bear, Leopard - The Animal in Porcelain Art

On Wednesday, 26 January 2022, at 2 p.m., the popular Kulturkaffee will once again take place at the Porzellanikon - State Museum of Porcelain, Hohenberg a.d. Eger. This time the focus will be on artistic animal objects. Whether individually, in a group or in connection with people, animals have played an important role in European porcelain history for 300 years. It appears not only as a porcelain figure, i.e. properly formed, but just as often in the form of a painted or printed decoration. On a knowledge-packed safari with curator Thomas Miltschus, participants will discover many a native but also exotic animal in and on porcelain and learn about the multifaceted artistic interpretations of an animal. They will also learn about the significance of animals at different times and what people associated with them. The coffee and tea table afterwards offers the opportunity to talk to each other and the curator in a relaxed atmosphere.

Registration is necessary at besuchercenter(at)porzellanikon.org  or by phone +49 9287 918000. Further information is available at www.porzellanikon.org. The 2G-Plus regulation applies. Corona quick tests are available at the museum box office for a fee of 4.50 euros.
