Nothing planned yet? Come to the museum on a public holiday! If you would like to experience porcelain production up close, you can experience the ‘Porcelain Factory on Bank Holiday’ at the Porzellanikon Selb at 2.00 pm. Together with real porcelain makers, you can explore the historic factory buildings and the exhibition on porcelain production in Europe's largest porcelain museum. There are live demonstrations on the steam engine, the drum mills and in the whiteware production area, which will delight young and old alike. Public holidays are museum days. Experience the ‘manufacturer's villa on public holidays’ and marvel at the former villa of C.M. Hutschenreuther in the Porzellanikon Hohenberg a.d. Eger. During a public guided tour at 2.00 pm, you will stroll through 300 years of porcelain history and discover impressive exhibits from the 18th to the 20th century. Until 13 October, you can also visit the special exhibition ‘Chess & Porcelain. The world on 64 squares’ can be visited until 13 October. The museum is open regularly. Spannende Geschichten um interessante Menschen – König Friedrich II. von Preußen, genannt „der Alte Fritz“ Die Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur in Berlin besitzt Weltruf. Begründet wurde 1763 sie von niemand geringerem als dem „Alten Fritz“ – König Friedrich II. (1712–1786), der als Friedrich der Große in die Geschichte einging. Zum Markenzeichen des königlichen Porzellans wurde das Zepter. Dabei war Friedrich selbst sein bester Kunde: 21 Service mit bis zu 500 Einzelteilen gab er zur Ausstattung seiner Schlösser in Auftrag. Up to three porcelains per visitor can be examined by the expert duo. (Almost) no information about origin, edition size or year of creation remains hidden.
